Day 2
Picture discussion:
This is a picture of a few young women gathering together to practise their hair cutting skills on models. I can see the women holding a pair of scissors all actively and focused on trimming the model's hair to a certain hairstyle. They are dressed rather casually hence this hairstyling practice session must be one where they are doing training for an actual test. Hairstyling must be their passion as I can see a few of the girls displaying smiles on their faces when they are doing up the model's hair. These women must be trainees under the profession. I think that this is a good activity to prepare themselves for the upcoming test as their aspiration as a hairstylist. This is because, practise makes perfect. When they have to work on a real customer's hair, they will be prepared and skilled so that they will not make the same mistakes as before on the model. This is as once a person's hair is cut off, it is hard for the barber to trim it and he or she can forget about attaching the hair back as it is an irreversible process. Hence the practice they are doing will ensure that they make a good haircut for the customers and not cause any grief or regrets to the customers for having their hair done by the barber. Also, it can serve as a good leisure activity where people sharing the same passion gather to interact and learn from one another.

Conversation:
My favourite hairstyle is a simple and traditional single ponytail tied back. This is because it is the simplest way to get your hair done neatly in a few minutes time, as compared to that of plaits and buns. I personally feel that one should not waste too much time on his or her hairstyle, like how some girls spend up to an hour doing their hair with hair styling foam or wax. Also, going out with a ponytail hairstyle shows character and I think that it is quite cool looking as compared to that of plaits which are more girly-looking and femine. I feel that the hairstyle one should keep should serve the purpose of making the owner look neat and good looking, and also in Singapore, to clear any hair away from the neck as the climate is hot. Hairstyle should also not become a disturbance to daily activities like fringes blocking out the sight of the owner. I feel comfortable in the ponytail style as it is simple,nice and not troublesome keeping it. I go the barber only when it is rather long and growing to be disturbing and more hideous. I find that one should not place too much efforts and emphasis on hairstyles as it is just a part of the appearance and not the bona fide display of a person. What matters most is a person's attitude and character. Even a dull-dressed decent woman with good nature can be more attractive than one scantily dressed woman who speaks vulgarities.
