Day4
Picture Discussion:
This is a picture showing a disabled man trying to ascend an inclined metal plank with the help of two men. The man offering help with the outstretched hand must be the bus driver. The people in the top background are likely volunteers from welfare organizations as the girls are wearing t-shirts with the same logo. At the extreme top left hand corner, looking at the girl's furrowed expression, it is obvious that the helpers are worried about the safety and progress of the disabled man. Seeing the girl behind the man carrying a goodie bag, most likely the youths are embarking on a community involvement project where they are supposed to bring a number of people with disabilities for a day trip so as to show them the world by pushing their disabilities to the limits with challenges for them to overcome. The malay man and woman in the centre top portion of the picture is most probably the supervisor from the Centre where the physically impaired patients get activities and consultations there. The young lady, also in a wheelchair, behind the disabled man, looks elated. I think that she is having a good time outdoors and is thankful to the organisers and volunteers for their care and help towards them, so that they do not feel stereotyped or left out by the society.
Conversation:
I once went to Pulau Ubin with my schoolmates during the Sec2 adventure camp. On the second day, we went to a shallow river for river cascading activity. Although the water was rather milky in color, deeping yourself in the river water was sensational. The cooling water cleared our minds and freshened up our bodies. Once in the river, no one wanted to budge but just to stay still and relax the breeze gushing past our face and just the stream flowing lightly against our bodies. I felt really chilled and hoped that I could have my baths in there. The natural beauty of the place got me awestruck as it was really a physical environment which we hardly experience in the largely human environment developed Singapore. Vines of the trees were hanging loosely from top, the canopy blocking out almost half of the sunlight. Laid back, looking up at the clear blue sky. The serenity is one which you can hardly find in Singapore hence, I recommend this awesome place to anyone who wants some peace to sort out any thoughts. ;)
